Cookie Policy

Effective date: 2026-07-03

This policy explains how Clippings (https://useclippings.com) uses cookies and similar technologies (local storage, session storage) and how you can control them. It should be read with our Privacy Policy.

1. What Cookies Are

Cookies are small text files stored on your device that let a site remember information between visits or requests — e.g. that you're logged in, or your interface preferences.

2. Categories We Use

CategoryPurposeCan you decline?
Strictly necessaryAuthentication/session (staying signed in)No — required for the Service to function
FunctionalRemembering your light/dark theme preferenceYes, but the app will fall back to a default theme
AnalyticsNot currently usedN/A
MarketingNot currently usedN/A

We do not currently use analytics or marketing cookies. If that changes, we'll update this policy and, for EEA/UK visitors, ask for consent before setting them (see Section 4).

3. Cookies & Local Storage We Set

NameCategoryPurposeDuration
`sb-<project-ref>-auth-token`Strictly necessarySupabase session cookie — keeps you signed inSession, refreshed while active
`theme` (browser local storage, not a cookie)FunctionalRemembers your light/dark mode preferenceUntil cleared

4. Your Consent Choices

If you are visiting from the EEA or UK: strictly necessary cookies (the auth session cookie above) do not require consent because the Service cannot function without them. We do not currently set any non-essential (functional beyond theme, analytics, or marketing) cookies that would require a consent banner; if we add any in the future, we will show a consent banner before setting them and let you accept, reject, or choose by category.

If you are visiting from California or another US state with an applicable privacy law: we do not sell personal information and do not currently use tracking cookies for advertising purposes.

If you are in India (DPDP Act, 2023): India does not have a separate cookie-consent regime like the EU's ePrivacy rules, but where a cookie processes your personal data the DPDP Act's consent rules apply. Because we currently set only the strictly-necessary session cookie above (needed to sign you in) and a theme preference stored locally on your device, no separate cookie consent is collected today; if we add analytics or marketing cookies we will obtain consent as required.

You can also control cookies directly through your browser settings, though blocking the strictly-necessary session cookie will prevent you from staying signed in.

5. Third-Party Cookies

We do not currently embed third-party trackers or widgets that would set their own cookies. Our AI processing (OpenRouter and the underlying model provider) and our database/auth provider (Supabase) operate server-side and do not set cookies in your browser beyond the session cookie above. See the sub-processor list in our Privacy Policy for the full picture of who we share data with.

6. Changes to This Policy

We'll post updates here with a new effective date and, for material changes, provide additional notice before they take effect.
